項目簡介：
2016年美國總統(tǒng)選舉（United States Presidential Election of 2016）將于2016年11月8日星期二舉行。這是美國第58屆總統(tǒng)選舉。 2016美國總統(tǒng)選舉將和參議院選舉以及眾議院選舉一同舉行。同時眾議院全部435個席位及參議院33個議席也會進行改選以產生第114屆國會。其中，參議院的33位參議員將會改選，和新的眾議院組成第114屆國會。這次選舉也將包括美國州長選舉和許多州議會選舉。 這次總統(tǒng)選舉，將先選舉出選舉人團, 再由選舉人團選舉產生總統(tǒng)和副總統(tǒng)。奧巴馬作為連任兩屆的現任總統(tǒng)根據法律規(guī)定不能連任，民主黨和共和黨多名候選人已經宣布參選這次總統(tǒng)大選。
美國總統(tǒng)大選第一站愛荷華州初選已進入白熱化，2016年2月1日將決出民主黨和共和黨候選人。美國教育無國界組織隆重推出2016年美國總統(tǒng)大選愛荷華州初選青年領袖培訓計劃-總統(tǒng)青年領袖計劃（Presidential YouthLeadership Initiative-PYLI）。由總統(tǒng)青年領袖計劃執(zhí)行委員會主席燕曉哲創(chuàng)辦于2003年的總統(tǒng)青年領袖計劃為高中，大學本科和研究生的國際學生提供機會了解體驗美國總統(tǒng)產生過程，體驗美國政治生活最重要的四年一度的總統(tǒng)大選，探討美國政治、經濟、科學、文化和教育體制, 參加總統(tǒng)候選人的辯論，討論，造勢和助選，與美國政商文教各界杰出人士和優(yōu)秀青年交流并學習培養(yǎng)領導和溝通能力的技巧。廣泛和深層的交流使得總統(tǒng)青年領袖計劃的前幾屆的畢業(yè)生中在大學或者研究院深造和職業(yè)計劃和未來發(fā)展中， 高屋建瓴，視野寬廣， 境界遠大，人脈豐富。
參加總統(tǒng)選舉實習計劃的國際學生將與美國本土學生在競選總部的工作人員的指導下， 在如下五個方面進行實習和觀摩：
（1）總統(tǒng)競選數據的輸入和分析；（2）總統(tǒng)競選團隊與選民的電話溝通； （3）總統(tǒng)競選團隊對選民住地的面訪；（4）為總統(tǒng)候選人組織大型， 中型和小型的與選民直接見面的各種會議和見面會，（5）為總統(tǒng)候選人組織募款活動。
在實習結束前， 實習生將需完成不少于五頁的論文（英語）， 并用不少于十頁的PPT演講和答辯，由不少于三人組成的畢業(yè)委員會審核批準，獲得由愛荷華州州務卿保羅·佩特先生簽署的畢業(yè)證書 。
2015年總統(tǒng)青年領袖和愛荷華州國際領袖培訓營-夏令營結營答辯后，康福學子李奔放同學獲得的最佳項目優(yōu)勝獎，右下角是愛荷華州州務卿保羅·佩特先生的親筆簽名。

Iowa Caucuses
The Iowa caucuses are an electoral event in which residents of the U.S. state of Iowa meet in precinct caucuses in all of Iowa's 1,774 precincts and elect delegates to the corresponding county conventions. There are ninety-nine counties in Iowa, and thus there are ninety-nine conventions. These county conventions then select delegates for both Iowa's Congressional District Convention and the State Convention, which eventually choose the delegates for the presidential nominating conventions.
The Iowa caucuses are noteworthy for the amount of media attention they receive during U.S. presidential election years.Since 1972, the Iowa caucuses have been the first major electoral event of thenominating process for President of the United States. Although only about 1%of the nation's delegates are chosen by the Iowa State Convention (25 Republican delegates in 2012, assigned proportionately), the Iowa caucuses have served as an early indication of which candidates for president might win the nomination of their political party at that party's national convention, and which ones could drop out for lack of support.
The 2012 Iowa caucuses took place on Tuesday, January 3, starting at 7 p.m. CT. Incumbent president Barack Obamaonly faced minor opposition in the Democratic caucus and received 98% of thevote, but the Republican caucus was heavily contested between several challengers.Initial results reported that Mitt Romney beat out Rick Santorum by just 8 votes, but when the final results came out two weeks later Rick Santorum secured the victory over Romney by a margin of 34 votes with Ron Paul in astrong 3rd. Results were certified by the Caucus but not by the Republicanparty who declared it a split decision due to missing reports from 8 precincts,but who later certified the caucus as a win for Santorum. The caucus winner changed yet again when the Iowa delegate totals were finally determined giving Ron Paul the win along with several other states that same weekend.
During the primary election campaign, the candidates ran on a platform of government reform in Washington. Domestic,foreign and economic policy emerged as the main themes in the election campaign following the onset of the 2008 economic crisis, as well as policies implemented by the Obama administration. This included the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) as well as government spending as a whole.
Prior to the 2012 caucuses, as in previouselection cycles with a competitive presidential race, the Ames Straw Poll washeld on August 13, 2011 on the campus of Iowa State University at the Hilton Coliseum. Straw poll voters selected Congress woman Michele Bachmann of Minnesota as their winner by a narrow margin. Congressman Ron Paul of Texascame in at a close second to Bachmann with 4,671 votes, to her 4,823 votes. A candidate debate, sponsored by Fox News, was held two days prior to the strawpoll on August 11, 2011. The Iowa Republican caucuses were originally scheduled to begin on February 6, 2012, but due to the Republican Party of Florida deciding to move its primary to January 31, Iowa sought to move its contest to the beginning of the year, in order to maintain their status as the first inthe nation caucus.
